This morning my Rotary Club (Western Henrico Rotary Club) raised over $4,800 by simply passing the hat in our Club to support the Tuckahoe YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program. (Learn more about this great cause HERE – the gist of it is to help children from low-income families arrive on their first day of school with new clothes and shoes, a new backpack filled with supplies, and a readiness to learn)
I’m proud to say that my Rotary Club was involved at the birth of this program that is now nationwide – but my point in this post is to ask yourself how you give back to your community or to help others less fortunate than yourself?
As any successful business person who has grown their business by referrals will tell you, they key to doing so is by helping others and what comes around, goes around – a philosophy known as “Givers Gain” in BNI (Business Network Int’l.). While we often think of ‘gain’ as financial, there are many other ways that we can gain – including by giving our time, talents, & treasures to help those who really need the help.
So – how do you give back?
I’m an active Rotarian and that’s where I tend to do most of my ‘serving’ – how about you?
